General Information
Founded: Washington State University began offering courses in Southwest Washington in 1983 as part of the Southwest Washington Joint Center for Education. In 1989, the university formally established Washington State University Vancouver as a branch campus of the state's land-grant institution. The Salmon Creek campus opened in 1996.
Current Service: WSU Vancouver offers 16 Bachelor's degrees, 9 Master's degrees, 1 Doctorate degree, and more than 35 fields of study. In Fall 2006, WSU Vancouver admitted freshmen and sophomores for the first time and began offering lower-division courses.

- Enrollment (Spring 2008): 2,562 Students; 1,902 FTE; Female: 60.6 percent; Male: 39.4 percent; Students of color represent 11 percent of total enrollment; More than 90 full time, Ph.D. faculty; 15,600 area WSU alumni, nearly 6,000 of whom graduated from WSU Vancouver.

- WSU Vancouver's 351-acre campus, located 10 miles north of the Columbia River, is comprised of nine buildings, as well as bicycle and pedestrian trails, an outdoor amphitheater, a magnificent fountain, dedicated sculptures, a 200-seat lecture hall, art galleries, a fitness center, outdoor sport court, coffee bar and cafeteria.
- WSU Vancouver's library has more than 800 journals in hardcopy; over 9,000 full text online journals and newspapers; a core collection of more than 20,000 books; access to more than 100 major bibliographic databases; and knowledgeable research support. The library participates in several local and regional library consortia, including the Portland Area Library System and ORBIS/Cascade (the Oregon and Washington Cooperative Library Project). It also houses the Environmental Information Cooperative Library.
- Ten laboratories include student computer stations, fine arts, circuits and micro-processing, computer-aided drafting, group instruction, two teaching labs, two open student labs and a writing center. Videoconference Services allows WSU Vancouver to send and receive classes and meetings throughout the WSU system, as well as across the state at other locations.
