General Information Incorporation: Evergreen Public Schools started in 1945 with eight small buildings — one from each of the smaller districts that consolidated that year — and 752 students and 30 employees. Background: Evergreen Public Schools is one of the fastest-growing large school districts in Washington and the fifth largest of the 296 districts in the state. In addition to our standard schools, students also learn at the Early Childhood Center, an early childhood special education program, at the Evergreen Internet Academy, an on-line study program, Legacy High School, an alternative learning center for high school and the Home Choice Academy for home schooled students. In addition, Evergreen is the host district for the Clark County Skills Center — a cooperative educational venture between eight southwest Washington school districts. Evergreen has expanded and refined its educational programs as the 54-square mile district has rapidly developed and added population in recent years. In the spring of 2004, the school board endorsed the use of the name Evergreen Public Schools as an alternative to the official name of Evergreen School District #114. Evergreen Public Schools provides the academic, cultural, vocational, and athletic programs needed to help students become responsible, knowledgeable adults. Budget: The Evergreen Public Schools operates an annual budget of more than $218 million. Population: The district serves more than 25,000 students.
