Engagement Opportunities

  • City Council meets in regular session the first and third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. Council also meets in consent meetings the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m. (Consent agenda meeting times may vary based on the Council’s need to conduct additional business or public hearings). Council holds workshops every Monday from 4-6 p.m.
  • All City Council meetings are held in the Council Chambers at City Hall – 210 E. 13th Street, Vancouver. First floor.Meetings are covered live and tape-delayed on CVTV (Comcast channels 21 & 23).
  • Meetings of various departments, committees and councils are open to the public as well, and advertised on the city’s website.

Notes of Special Interest

  • City’s namesake is Captain George Vancouver, a British sailor/explorer who lived from 1758-1798.
  • Military leader and statesman George C. Marshall commanded the Vancouver Barracks and is honored today with a civic award and lecture series. General Ulysses S. Grant also was stationed at the Vancouver Barracks prior to the Civil War. Current Vancouver Mayor Royce Pollard and current Clark College President Bob Knight also commanded the Vancouver Barracks.Recreation and sports programs for residents of all ages, nearly 7,000 acres of parkland, over 44 miles of trails, and facilities including pools, a tennis/racquetball center, and community centers.The Vancouver Convention Center and Hilton Hotel is the only publicly-owned convention center and four-star hotel in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Vancouver has updated the City Center Plan and expanded its boundary to approximately 130 city blocks including the city center waterfront.
