City of CamasMunicipal Center
General Information The City of Camas is situated in the eastern hilly portion of Clark County. Located along the banks of the Columbia River, this "small" city has become a "big" player in the locating and siting of international companies. From its origins over 100 years ago as a paper-mill town, which still boasts a mill operated by Georgia-Pacific Corporation, Camas has expanded, developed, and successfully blended a mix of cultures, values, and vision. These ideals have been instrumental in promoting diverse economic growth, encouraging development of livable, family-oriented neighborhoods, protecting open-space, building parks and other recreational amenities — in short, balancing the nexus between jobs, housing and recreation. Prioritizing the quality of life for all residents has made Camas a truly unique community. Population: 16,700 (2008). Rank in size: 58th largest city in the state of Washington. Area: 11.34 square miles. Mission: The City of Camas is committed to preserving its heritage, sustaining and enhancing a high quality of life for all of its citizens and developing the community to meet the challenges of the future. Camas takes pride in preserving a healthful environment while promoting economic growth. Other utility services are provided for within the city but contracted out to private enterprises or are offered through franchise agreements.
