General Information

The City of Camas is situated in the eastern hilly portion of Clark County. Located along the banks of the Columbia River, this "small" city has become a "big" player in the locating and siting of international companies. From its origins over 100 years ago as a paper-mill town, which still boasts a mill operated by Georgia-Pacific Corporation, Camas has expanded, developed, and successfully blended a mix of cultures, values, and vision. These ideals have been instrumental in promoting diverse economic growth, encouraging development of livable, family-oriented neighborhoods, protecting open-space, building parks and other recreational amenities — in short, balancing the nexus between jobs, housing and recreation. Prioritizing the quality of life for all residents has made Camas a truly unique community.

Population: 16,700 (2008).

Rank in size: 58th largest city in the state of Washington.

Area: 11.34 square miles.

Mission:  The City of Camas is committed to preserving its heritage, sustaining and enhancing a high quality of life for all of its citizens and developing the community to meet the challenges of the future. Camas takes pride in preserving a healthful environment while promoting economic growth.

Utilities: The City of Camas provides the following utility services: water, sewer, garbage, recycling and storm water. Other utility services are provided for within the city but contracted out to private enterprises or are offered through franchise agreements.
